Day 16 – Flight home from Delhi

How to get to Delhi

We recommend booking this trip through a reputable cycling tour operator. Due to the large distances and terrain covered it is advisable to have knowledgeable guides as well as all of your accommodation booked in advance. For a real adventure and to save some money you could of course book some flights to Delhi and try to arrange guides and accommodation yourself but using a reputable cycling tour operator is the safer option.

Some of the days are quite long, and depending on the time of year, the cycling can be strenuous and hot, so it's really important that you ensure your body is ready for the challenge and you drink plenty of water en-route too.

Regardless of your age or fitness, it is always good advice to have a full medical check-up before deciding on whether or not to embark on a cycling challenge in India.

Medical considerations for the cycling tour

Always consult your doctor for a list of all the medical requirements before setting off on your adventure activity holiday.

  • For India you should have Tetanus, Typhoid and Hepatitis A vaccinations.
  • A rabies vaccination is also recommended but this is not a necessity.
  • Allow about six to eight weeks before your travel date to start all of your vaccinations.
  • Anti-malaria tablets are also required.
  • Make sure you start taking your anti-malarial drugs before you travel and after you return home as per the instructions.
  • It is a good idea to avoid getting bitten by mosquitoes by wearing long sleeve tops and trousers at night as well as using insect sprays containing DEET.
  • Finally, make sure your tetanus and polio jabs are up to date.

When you have arrived in India, make sure you have at least one rest day after your flight to recover from any jet lag or travel fatigue and make sure you are fighting fit to enjoy your adventure activity holiday.
