The original high school musical
A 1970s musical about teens set in 1950s California. Danny Zuko (John Travolta) meets Australian Sandy Olsson (Olivia Newton-John) on holiday and romance blossoms.

Thinking they won’t see each other again after their summer breaks end, there is surprise when Sandy turns up at her new high school to find her love interest is there. Danny then has to decide between his role as leader of the T-Birds and his affection for Sandy.
Despite most of the cast clearly being well beyond their teens, the movie nevertheless works, and remains one of the most endearing musicals in movie history. It has the classic ‘boy-meets-girl, dumps her, and then comes to his senses’ storyline, plus some incredibly catchy musical numbers – which makes it a firm favourite with girls of all ages!
