What is body polishing?
A sense of ‘out with the old, in with the new’ surrounds this therapy, as the aim of body polishing is to buff away old skin and encourage new cell growth.
There are varying forms of body polishing – which use different products containing relatively abrasive materials such as natural grain sand, salt or brown sugar to exfoliate the skin – but the main principles of the therapy are usually the same, whichever method is used. Body polishing treatments generally last around 50 minutes per session.
What is the purpose of body polishing?
The aim of body polishing is to exfoliate dead skin cells from head to toe and oxygenate the skin, leaving it soft and revitalised – as well as to encourage new cell growth. It is often used before a massage or other therapeutic treatment such as a body wrap.
What are the benefits of body polishing?
A body polishing session is a relaxing experience and will leave you with healthier, smoother-looking skin over your whole body, which will usually last for quite a few days. It is the perfect treatment for skin that has been swaddled in fabric during the colder months of the year – and so it’s great to have for the summer!
Body polishing is also an effective method of treating sun-damaged skin, dryness, dehydration, clogged pores and acne conditions.
