How to get fit through jet skiing
Fitness benefits of jet skiing
Most of us probably had an introduction to the thrills of jet skiing whilst enjoying a summer getaway, but it’s not just the beaches of the Caribbean or some other exotic location that are the places to go. Jet skiing is a high speed water sport that is great for developing your balance and co-ordination skills as well as your leg muscles. Here's the realbuzz.com introduction to the world of jet skiing.
There are many great locations where you can learn the ropes or improve your jet skiing skills. Of all the water sports, jet skiing is probably the easiest to pick up. It’s also probably the fastest, and it’s the adrenalin attached to that speed that attracts thousands of people to the sport.
As well as being a hi-octane sport that thrills the competitor, jet skiing has health and fitness benefits that should not be overlooked.
It is a great water sport for developing the body’s balance and coordination skills, as it requires concentration to stay on board. Similarly, it helps strengthen both the arm and leg muscles as you give them a good workout when jet skiing. Finally, jet skiing is of great benefit to the mind, refreshing the body’s senses.
We recommend that everyone starting out completes a training course first. Even if you have skied before, it’s worth doing it to ensure you have the skills to ride safely. But it’s not just for safety reasons; more and more launch sites are now demanding you have the certificate before allowing you to gain access to the water.
The one-day RYA course takes you from the basics of safety and equipment to the more advanced aspects of jet ski handling. It covers safety training, navigation, slow speed maneuvers, high-speed handling and collision avoidance techniques.
