About

Oh my; I'm really entered into the London Marathon! I've stood there for hours cheering the runners, especially those running for the cancer charities...

First hour long run

Nov2320115:14 p.m.

I managed to run for a whole hour on Sunday evening. It was great. I felt slightly disconnected from my legs afterwards and felt like I was walking on air but so pleased I did it. I managed to run 8.2 k so over 5 miles for the first time.

Also went for a run down the canal today - 45 mins and just under four miles. Our local canal gets very busy with lots of runners at lunchtime and I am always staggered at how fast people can run. So I tried a little sprint (well for me!) at the end of my run today and it felt good. Sometimes I think i get so worried about my feet and legs getting hurt that I just kind of plod on and don't really go for it. That said my new shoes arrived today and I am staggered about how little tread was on my old ones after really five months.

So perhaps when I wear these in I'll have a couple of speed sessions after my 10k race which is now only 11 days away (very excited!) being confident that my feet are well cushioned.

  • Rob_Barber 'Sounds like you're making great progress - and a nice little burst of speed I think is a great way to guarantee finishing your run on a high. If only I didn't have this ruddy great hill to get up - I'd be doing the same. :-) ' added 24th Nov 2011
