Well i only found out last week this race was a road race... i though it was like Herbert's Hole & a multi-terrain or an XC event so i was steering clear... glad i never did though!

After a long 14.1 miler with Krim on Tuesday i'd not managed to get out since what with a bit of foot pain and then a mystery ankle pain coming into the mix last night i was actually in two minds as to whether or not to do it at all... still rumours of a nice medal and the usual X-mas guilt made me haul myself out of bed about half seven.

We rolled up just in time for registration at 9ish, met Steve Newing & saw Travers as we walked through to the pub to register. Big queue by the time we came out but no worries time to race... A few other GVH on the scene now...

Started a little behind time, i'm guessing cos everyone had to register even though they had their numbers (?)... Saw James from Tring & Dacorum. He was definitely up for it :o)

3...2...1... Go!

Off we all went, i was feeling pretty good but, Krim was nowhere to be seen, so i chilled out a bit until he came level again.... Travers and Steve sailed off ahead.... Krim never said anything but his ankle was actually hurting him for the 1st mile or so... but stopped hurting once warmed up... no idea what that is...anyone?

2 laps of 5 miles... The Pednor 5 actually, which is run in April (?)  consisting of a couple of miles along a gentle incline before a left turn up a pretty mean hill... i doesn't go on for that long though.

We were over 8mm, but it felt ok, and we promised we would do a couple of fast miles at the end. Had a good chat with a Handy Cross Runner who went by the name of Dennis... i think!! Hope we didn't put you off too much with our jibber jabber lol. The second time up the hill we left him... and yeah it was pretty tough the second time. Steve was right, when he said afterwards, it took a good half mile to recover from it... but it was all downhill from there... mentally at least... technically there was one more minor up, but plenty of downs....did i mention i was b0rn to run downhill :o)

Krim & I pushed hard for the last 2 miles, catching i would say about 7 or 8 people and i've got the splits at 6:53 & 7:06. Could have dipped under 7 with the finish but i was finishing with Krim... :o) Legs were knackered at the end though and that's a fact.

Happy Feet - Well done chaps

Well done everyone, and all the other GVH who i didn't mention! Looking forward to Cliveden XC on Monday, so ought to take it a little easy tonight... might actually happen :o)

Great event this... definitely on my to do list for next year. Thanks Chiltern harriers. Can even do a relay if 5 miles is more your thing :o)

Happy New Year!!!
