Good luck for VLM - under 2 weeks to go
Apr0820134:28 p.m.
Not blogged for a while, have been through the mill a little with the running, the result being that I havent blogged and have had to withdraw from VLM 13. Its a hard decision but at the turn of the year I developed tendonitis in both hamstrings where they go up into the hip.
Lots of physio work but meant nearly a month of reduced training. Physio comment was that I could run VLM but afterwards I would be making him a very rich man. The month of reduced running was at the period when I should have been increasing the mileage to 18+. Did do a 16.5 miler but knew that was the limit of what I could do, and 10 miles is a long way to walk!
Am still not fixed but am getting better, long run is max of 10 miles. Know I could get around VLM but I really want to enjoy the race and improve on my time, so am saving my efforts for VLM 14.
Lower level training has been good though, got a PB in this age bracket for 10k a couple of weekends ago. Also did a 10 mile race on Good Friday in Folkestone. Really enjoyed it.
Plan now is to continue in the Wiltshire Road Race League and score as many points as possible - currently in 20th place. Their road races luckily are 5 - 10 miles in spring / summer with half marathons towards the end of the year. Will then think about VLM 14 and see what shape I am in.
Wanted to wish all my RB friends good luck on VLM in a couple of weeks time. Relax and enjoy the day, its a fantastic experience. May be there helping out on one of the refuelling stations - still working on that one.
Happy Running All
