A poorly knee and a date with the Prime Minister.......!

Oct2720112:43 p.m.

Another week under Mama Rose and Gypsy's belts! Thank you to everyone who is sending us love and support and votes, please don't stop! Last week was a particularly hard week as we had the ballroom tango and seeing as words like, serious, strong, and overly masculine don't really spring to mind when I think of Russell, so it was quite a challenge. However what Russell lacks he makes up for with showmanship and dedication which he has in abundance. And with a little imagination and lots of hard work I think we produced a totally unique and one-off performance of a tango! There was even a guest appearance from Teddy Flavant - our new best friend! I was very proud of Russell for putting on such a good performance of a ballroom dance that he wasn't initially looking forward to. Having said that by day 2 he was loving it, just like he does with every other dance and that’s why he's a pleasure to work with.

This week is Halloween week and we have the Samba! Initially I thought it would be an easier week for us as it’s one of Russell’s favourites and a Latin number but Monday, was a day best forgotten. Due to circumstances out of my control I missed my direct train to Snowdonia meaning a one hour wait for the next one via Chester. Unfortunately when arriving in Chester I had a 5 minute delay so I missed the connection and had to wait another 40 mins!!. I eventually arrived at training 2 hours late by which point I was losing the will to live. By this time Russell had to go for an MRI scan on his knee which has been troubling him a little, so I accompanied him there. I waited with him but by the time we spoke to the doctor the day was over and we just managed to go back to the training room to do our lengthy Monday interviews. Sadly no samba to be seen.....

However after a terribly difficult first day, Tuesday was upon us and the sun was shining in more ways than one. We have a great song again this week and above all this has to be Russell's favourite dance. I think he was born to dance the samba or as he says maybe he was a Brazilian samba dancer in his past life. I hope you enjoy the routine on Saturday because I'm sure we will have a lot of fun dancing it. Let's hope Russell can contain his excitement, that's what we've been working on the most this week. Another exciting element to my week was a trip with Jimi to 10 Downing Street to meet the PM, (not something that comes up too regularly). It was a celebration for Diwali the Indian festival of light which the Prime Minister was hosting. It ended up being quite a nice evening and get together. Even one of the PM armed guards wanted a photo!!

In the middle of such a busy week I felt pretty calm about the whole event and enjoyed the atmosphere. You can see more photos on Jimi's blog jimimistry.co.uk. Another huge thank you to each and every one of you who sent Vin and I lovely messages about our Argentine Tango on Sunday, thank you so much. It was an amazing atmosphere as always in the studio and it was lovely to dance to the sensational music of our Midnight Tango orchestra ‘Tango Siempre'. If you'd like to come and see us on tour all the dates and venues are available on www.midnight tango.co.uk. Right two days of samba left with Russell and we are very much looking forward to our costume fitting tomorrow. Wishing you all a very happy Halloween. Hoping you have more treats than tricks! Lots of love FC xxx
