Hello my little Feetlings, I hope you all had a great weekend and those of you in serious training managed to get your LSR in. Having looked at the forum recently I noticed that some of you have been under the misguided impression that LSR stood for 'Long Sunday Run' or even 'Long Saturday Run', rather than the Long Slow Run it usually represents. To reassure some of you, this means you can be flexible with your training schedule and you can do your LSR on a day that is not a Saturday or Sunday if that suits you better. If you do your LSR on Wednesday you will not spontaneously combust.
I've been using my toes to good effect to do some browsing online to see what's been going on in the running world, and was amazed to see the lengths that some runners will go to record a good time. How about this Chinese marathon where 30 competitors were disqualified for cheating during the race.

So desperate were some of the runners to duck under 2hrs 34 (the minimum standard for high school students to attain extra credits for China's ultra-competitive college entrance examinations) that they just got someone else to carry their timing chip for them.
Others in the Xiamen International marathon used a ringer to run for them while others went for the really lazy method and took public transport. You just can't trust anyone these days can you.
One thing you can trust is little old Footnote, and I've been a busy foot myself lately, and managed to line up a Q and A session with three-time London marathon winner Martin Lel, a guy who doesn't need to public transport to help him win races. Look ou
t for my next post when I'll be letting you in on that.
I also read with interest about a plot to kill thousands at the London Marathon which thankfully turned out to be the sick plot of a movie called Four Lions which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival at the weekend.
The British comedy farce about the group of aspiring suicide bombers, which is said to show "the Dad's Army side to terrorism", might be a bit uncomfortable for many of us to watch or even dare contemplate, no matter how funny it is meant to be. I'll stick to laughing my corns off with some episodes of One Foot in the Grave and my favourite animated movie of all time Happy Feet .

I wouldn't have trusted British public transport to get me to the finish of the London Marathon on marathon day any quicker than my ownfeet would.
In fact I left my wife at the start line once and she was still at Greenwich when I crossed the finish line.
