London's (Not) Calling!

Good things come to those who wait..............

This might not be the case if you have entered the 2010 Virgin London Marathon and have been rejected. 120,000 people closed the Virgin London Marathon ballot within 3 days of it opening. Some would estimate that your chances are as a big as ‘1 in 6’!

So after you search for a consoling hug from somebody (anybody!) and put the tissues away.

What are your options?

The ‘I’m in Denial’ Option: Shout as loud as you can “Why would I want to run 26.2 miles anyway!”

The ‘I got dumped’ Option: “Well, if London does not want me I will find someone who does!”

The ‘No surrender’ Option: “An obstacle is often an unrecognised opportunity!”

If you are in the third option category then running for a charity is definitely worth investigating. The Virgin London Marathon has hundreds of charities needing your help to raise important funds for every issue imaginable.

Time consuming? Not at all, from the official Virgin London Marathon list, charities only require basic contact details so they can send you more information.

Committing to run for charity is a big undertaking and one that requires a huge amount of dedication, with often months of tough training required in the months leading up to the event as well as the fundraising to be done at the same time too. That is why many charities aim to give the same commitment to their runners as the runners give to the cause themselves.

Look at it this way, the ballot rejection is technically the hardest obstacle you will have to overcome in order to cross the 2010 Virgin London Marathon!

The great charity debate rages on footnote!......Honestly, I think it's asking toooo much now. Unless I get a really decent offer from my charity, I don't think I'll do London again! I'll find something else around the time and just do it for the run. I'm full of admiration for those that do and will, but I've done my 3 and maybe it's time to move on, or up, or over????.......Epiphany in Dorset today me thinks???...
