Ho Ho Ho! It’s Christmas time once again (will Jesus ever stop celebrating his birthday?) and everyone is happy the holiday season is here. Well, not everyone that is why we are going to play a Footnote exclusive game called :

Paula Radcliffe is HAPPY

Who?

Only the greatest female marathon runner of all time!

Why?

Paula announced to the BBC she is going to try and have a baby before the London 2012 Olympics but, has not given up hope of an Olympic medal. She hopes herself and her husband Gary will get the business done in time for her to start training early 2011.

"I don't believe my body is anywhere near finished - mentally I'm definitely not. If I didn't have the love of what I'm doing, then I would have retired. I want to keep going as long as I can. And with 2012 up there, like a carrot, that's my next big target. I really want to go to an Olympics, especially in my home country, and give 100%."

Now that’s what I call a training program – even the sex is scheduled!

Caster Semenya is UNHAPPY

Who?

South African 800m Female World Champion who was at the centre of a “sex test” row last summer.

Why?

Semenya is still waiting to hear from the IAAF if she can compete as a female next season as it is reported she has 3 times the amount of testosterone permitted for a female athlete. Semenya is unhappy about being sold out by the South African Athletic Association whose management have now been sacked. The story in the New Yorker is a long read so good luck!

"It sucks when I was running and they were writing those things. That sucked. That is when it sucks. Now I just have to walk away. That's all I can do." She smiled a small, bemused smile. "Walk away from all of this, maybe forever. Now I just walk away."

Marion Jones is HAPPY

Who?

Disgraced drug fuelled former world record holder who lied to the wrong people.

Why?

Marion Jones seems to be a very happy bunny at the moment. She has just got out of jail and hopes to go straight into the Women’s NBA (Basketball). Jones spent 15 months in jail for lying to federal agents during the famous Balco/ performance enhancing drugs case back in 2007. Jones used to play basketball in college and says....

“It would give me an opportunity to share my message to young people on a bigger platform. It would give me an opportunity to get a second chance.”

Tim Montgomery is UNHAPPY

Who?

Why?

If you missed it Montgomery gave an amazing insight into his life in the Times last week (very good read) and an insight to his drug cheating and life with former wife Marion Jones. Tim is unhappy Marion won’t reply to his letters about seeing his son and is unhappy his rivals got away with doping.

"Did I feel I was crossing the line when I was doping? No, not coming from the streets. It wasn't even a second thought. I'm not going to sugar-coat it, there wasn't even a second thought that I was cheating. It was all about getting one over the system and if I could, I would. That was what I learnt on the streets. But I tell you, if I'm cold, Marion's even colder. Marion didn't care about anything."
