Update: (16/05/2009)

Having made a lifestyle choice, at almost 18 stone and being unable to run to the loo(!!), I applied for the FLM 2009. I got in and ran for SPARKS having lost over 4 and a half stone! Was a fantastic day, but my right calf went after 16 miles and I limped and hobbled the last 10 and over the finish line.

So I must carry on running to keep the weight off and better my PB's. Ballot entered for 2010, so fingers crossed. - got place with Children with Leukaemia!!

Still not built for speed, but am improving and keeping going. Many thanks for the support of my wonderful wife Debs, and my two little angels, Derry and Ellie.

PB's

Half Marathon - Bath March 2009 - 2:17:30

Marathon - London April 2009 - 5:33:15

The Big switch

Well I have switched to VLM in eager preparation for next year and hoefully my bloggy friends will continue to look at my insane ramblings.

Have decided to take a couple of weeks rest prior to running again, to give this ageing body (and the bloody right calf) a good rest. Have a Half Marathon on 7th June and will more then likely do Birmingham in October, Bath in March and back to the big smoke in April.

Not sure how to start back training but will stick with 3-4 runs a week. Have 23 6 year-old girls at mine for a party tomorrow, so that will be great joy!! Might need to have a few sherberts........well I'm not running am I..

Seems that everyone has cut back and enetered other races in the next few months. Don't relish all the 6 year olds at the party, take more than one sherbert!

have just read your race report you did really well with all that pain - you've got to get that sorted - physio/sports massage??? great report I me Baywatch at the finish nice guy. hope to see you sometime in the future. I think the marathon was good endurance training for a party with 23 6yr olds! What's the acorn triple???

Good luck with the party! Would rather run a marathon than have 23 6yr olds round

Well done on a good marathon, it takes a lot to finish when you're having problems. Glad to see you made it!!!

Now you have a nice time to beat next year, hopefully injury-free!
