Dampened enthusiasm

Any enthusiasm for running seems distinctly dampened at the moment - and I don't just mean by this constant drizzly weather.  Headed out tonight in-between the showers, just wanting to do 20 minutes or so.  But the calf is still tightening-up after just a few minutes, so despite lots of walk breaks to try to loosen things up a bit, still ended up cutting it short and plodding home fed-up.  If it carries on like this, I can see me chucking the running shoes in the bin!

In other news, have finally got my podiatrist appointment coming up on Wednesday.  After just a 6 month wait.  The letter tells me to take running shoes and shorts, so sounds like some sort of gait analysis is planned.  Will be interesting to see what they come up with.

Happy running everyone

Let's hope the podiatrist can offer an insight. Sorry to hear about your run. Hang in there.

You can't throw the running shoes in the bin! Not till you've tried everything - hopefully the podiatrist will be able to get you sorted or at least point you in the right direction. Don't give up!!

Good luck with that appointment. Hope you get some answers. Don't give up hope. Let me know how you get on.

Good luck with the podiatrist Geoff. You can't give up, it's just not your style!

Hope the podiatrist can help you Geoff. Keep on plodding and talk to Muffs as well. He knows his stuff.

The podiatrist must be able to give you some advice etc. Giving up is not an option just yet surely!

Chuck the shoes in the bin if you want to... but only when the podiatrist has told you to buy some new ones!!!
Hang on in there - and best of luck with the podiatrist.

My fingers are very firmly crossed that the pod can shed some light on what the problem is, you definitely need some good luck, you've been suffering far too long now!
Your enthusiasm wouldn't have been dampened down here today, it would have frozen and fallen off! Glad I'm not a brass monkey tonight!!

Hopefully the podiatrist will have some ideas as to the cause of the problem. Once you know what the problem is and have a plan to put it right, I'm sure you'll feel more positive. Fingers crossed for you, anyway.

Don't give up ! Injuries will get better eventually - be patient no matter how frustrating it may be. Besides, look at the wear and tear you are saving on your trainers - that means no need to replace them so soon - that means saving money - that makes for a happy Yorkshireman !! (unless you blow a zillion times the amount on physios, pods etc etc!!)
Seriously, have you considered acupuncture - it worked a treat for me despite being slightly taken aback when one of the needles was stuck in my head !!
