Week 11 done and dusted...

Another 45 mile week - 20 mile run completed on Saturday. But it seems I have a touch of the 'Eddie Izzards'. i do find myself stopping for too long to look from a bridge at the beautiful river view or to talk to the llamas, or ponder the backdrop or, as happened this Saturday, to stop for the loo three times! Never gonna be speedy at that rate. And certainly if I stop for the loo three times on the 25th I shall never get to the end!! It was a beautiful day for it though and didn't feel too bad at all. The husband kindly cycled with me although complained all the way about absolutely everything as per. I kept trying to lose him, but it didn't work..

So that's week 11 in the bag. This week is a step-back dilly-dally week but I am already skipping the 5 mile run this morning. I don't know about anyone else but I find the day after a really long run I feel great, the day after the day after, I feel wiped out. Like today. So just an Iyengar Yoga class for me today (when I say just...) and then 6 miles tomorrow. Only 6? Crikey, first time for weeks the mid-week runs have been that low mileage.

Not long now...

Happy running!

  • simonedumergue 'Well done - you're training has been coming along a treat. You are going to be SO well prepared. I'm like you on my long runs - often get distracted by the general 'loveliness' around me. Then a bit of a shock to the system when I run without stopping at events! Enjoy your step back week. Sounds like you are due one after all that hard work and fantastic mileage. We'll gloss over the fact that Keith_L has already done 500 miles this year!!!' added 8th Mar 2010

  • Firefly123 'Well done, Harri. You are so good with following your plan. I don't think there's anything wrong in stopping to admire the view or take a photo in our long runs. I took a couple looking out over Kew Bridge last week on my long run. Enjoy your step-back week. ' added 8th Mar 2010

  • Russell_Nimbus 'Well done Harri! Great mileage and a terrific long run too! You're training is really coming together. You're going to fly around London. It is going to be really interesting running around London and seeing the sights. I never stop to look at things on my runs - I'd never get started again! I have been on the lookout for the first daffodil. lol that sounds so camp!' added 8th Mar 2010

  • Suziewee 'Well done you are doing so well with Mr Higdon! I am going to try so hard to follow his plan for the next marathon (did i just say that, I havent even got this one out of the way yet!!) I am a bit of daydreamer while running, I look at all sorts. Sometimes I wander into the middle of the road I am so distracted!! I really do need to be more careful. Well done again, you are an inspiration and must be so fit.' added 8th Mar 2010

  • lou21 'Oh I think it is imperative to stop and stand and look, and take in the sheer beauty of the changing seasons (hippy week...) once in a while. After all as busy working women when else do we get the chance! If I hadn't been marathon training I would not have seen my kingfishers... and we have llama too :0) We are really going to do this aren't we!! We have to get on tv this year!!!' added 8th Mar 2010

  • Dim 'Ah so who has it right then, the runner who passes everything with hardly a second glance, focussing only on their distant goal - the finish line, or the runner who enjoys the whole journey, drinking in their surroundings as they progress past the wonders of our world. Oops how much have I had to drink. I have to admit I know which I'd opt for. Great running Hat and great weekly mileage too.' added 8th Mar 2010

  • crooxi 'Another 45 miles?! - have you morphed into Wonderwoman or something?! No, seriously, that's mighty impressive. As for the admire the view/talk to the animals/identify wildlife thing: I'm a prime offender. (If it IS an offence!) Enjoy your (slightly) easier week.' added 8th Mar 2010
