Today I am having a rest day, I was planning on a three mile run again but I am going to go tomorrow instead as my hips are achy after two days on the trot (excuse the pun).  Is it ok that I am only 27 and get achy hips??  Makes me feel like a proper old lady, but after a day off I’m right as rain and it never hurts when I run.

I have been absolutely famished the past couple of days so I have had a couple of hundred extra calories, which I feel confident I will burn off on my 9 mile run this weekend.

I’m following a training schedule but reading some of your blogs, I wonder if I am running enough.  I’ve seen a couple of you run 7 or 8 miles a week twice a week plus a longer run at weekends.  Should I be increasing my mid week runs in length?  I must say the dark nights are an irritant and I am wondering if I should join a gym…but it’s an expense I could really do without.

As long as you get to Christmas with some miles under your belt and fit and healthy you will do fine' added 11th Nov 2009

    • simonedumergue 'As long as you doing one 'long' run a week you can mix the other runs up to suit where you are at the moment - worst thing to do is to push it too hard trying to keep up with a perceived level of others. This side of Xmas it is all about getting a good base built up. Last year and this year, I am aiming to be doing 10-12 miles for my 'long' weekly run by end of the year (which is what I did last year). But - lots of people are doing it differently! Good luck.' added 11th Nov 2009
