The future is bright! The future is Chunky! James "Chunky" DeGale is a middleweight Olympic Gold Medallist who turned professional in 2008.

He started amateur boxing at the Trojan club at the age of 10, when he was teased for being "chunky". The nickname stuck and has followed him through his career and remains a term of affection today.

James, 24, represented Great Britain at the 2008 Summer Olympics in the Middleweight boxing event, winning the gold medal. He turned pro in December 2008 and in February 2009, he made his professional debut against Georgian boxer, Vephkhia Tchilaia, winning the fight on points 40 - 36.

James fights with flair and precision, making him exciting and engaging to watch. His training camp, headed by one of Great Britain's best coaches, Jim McDonnell, is intent on bringing the best out of James. He won his first title fight (the WBA International Crown) on May 15th 2010 and has since added a British Super-Middleweight title. To date he is unbeaten as a pro.
