Lackluster legs (boo!), 12 miles (hooray!) and my plan to entice sponsors with a bottle of bubbly
Jan2620101 p.m.
Up until now my main concern has been making it round those 26.2 miles but suddenly a new worry has kicked in… sponsorship money! So my sponsorship quest has now officially started!
I'm raising money for St John Ambulance who I chose as most of the staff are volunteers and also because they helped in the London bombings in 2005. I'm trying to entice sponsors by offering a bottle of champagne to the person who guesses my finish time the closest . And I'm even also featuring in my staff newsletter (eek, how embarrassing!) to hopefully persuade some of my colleagues!
Last week I was quite busy so my two weekday runs ended up on consecutive days (not ideal). And even less ideal was the fact that the second of these was supposed to be speed work! Needless to say but my legs were feeling rather lackluster so I only managed a sorry attempt that was a bit disappointing. It's never a good sign when you have to hold on the sides of the treadmill to finish your run!
But by the weekend things were looking up and I managed a whole 12 miles on Sunday! I kept pretty steadily to a 12 minute mile (2 hours 25 mins in total) and although my legs are a bit achy they don't feel too bad at all. This coming weekend I'm going to do a shorter run to give myself a bit of a break- pheew
