Torrential rain, soggy trainers but finally breaking into double digits!

Jan1720107:41 p.m.

Well at the start of this week I had a bad feeling it wasn't going to be a good running week- I was getting a cold and it was snowy and icy (again!).  So I took it easy and just did a couple of relaxed runs after work.

But by Friday I was feeling better and on Saturday (albeit armed with a hearty supply of tissues!) I managed my first double digit run... 10 miles!!    And even better it was a) outside (hooray, I escaped treadmill!) and b) accompanied by my recently found MP3 player.

It took me 2 hours (so 12 mins/ mile) that I was pretty pleased with.  I really enjoyed the first 8 miles (despite the torrential rain) but the last 2 miles were a bit of a struggle (tired legs, waterlogged clothes and generally feeling a bit cold and soggy!).

My hamstrings are a bit twingey too- first time I’ve felt any discomfort there.  But hopefully they’ll be ok after a few days of rest.

Anyway, 10 miles down... only 16 to go! Smile

  • Kendlef 'well done on getting to double figures - i only got there myself a little while ago so i know how you feel. and especially well done for managing it in the rain, it nice for a couple of miles but when your cold and soggy it loses its appeal :)' added 17th Jan 2010
