Alternative New Year's resolutions for the real realbuzzers

Welcome to 2010

Happy New Year all! I trust you are healthy, well but maybe not so wealthy after the festive break. And, as 2010 has well and truly started, I have to make some mention of resolutions, after all you can't begin January with the mindset that the coming year will finally be the one that holds an aspired life change.

But after a nosing round the forums and the blogs, seeing what you have been up to over the past two fun-filled festive weeks, it seems you have been a good bunch of realbuzzers, staying healthy, active and well. Now, don't get me wrong - I think it's great that the majority of you have hung on the wagon and maintained a good healthy balance over Christmas and New Year. However, to give you inspiration for your 2010 resolutions would be preaching to the converted. Boring...

So, as normal, I have decided to take a different approach. Here are 3 alternative New Year's resolution ideas for those of you out there that are having no trouble fitting into your jeans, or smashing your last PB.

  1. Resolve to become proficient at a party trick, how about being able to burp the entire alphabet or tying a cherry stalk in a knot by just using your tongue (little side note, I can do one of the above, but I am not telling you which).
  2. Why not adopt a new vice, obviously within reason, it could be to get up 10 minutes later each day, occasionally take a walk when you'd normally run - or include an extra brew break into your working day.
  3. Learn less-than-useful skill, granted it's worth investing time to learn something that's useful, but sometimes it can dilute the hobby factor - why not learn to play the harmonica, try your hand at taxidermy, okay, I may have gone a little too far on this one.

Finally, I can't leave you without a note on my resolution for 2010 - I have resolved to try to do one body treatment each day. We are not talking major, pluck eyebrows would be one, file nails would be another and so on. It's is a bid to sharpen up a bit so I don't look like a dulled skinned, hairy teen wolf heathen come springtime.

  • Johnf 'Tut Kirsty, less than useful to play the harmonica. You'll have the Blues/Rock police round your place! Love to think your trick is the cherry stalk one but I have a feeling it may be the burping, though well done on that!!' added 6th Jan 2010
