Blighty is not best
Blighty is not best
Well, it seems Britain has been knocked down a few notches in the race for the best places in the world to live. Yup, last year we came in at 20, but now we are ranked a lowly 25, falling behind the likes of Czech Republic, Lithuania and Uruguay.

So where may we ask is Shangri-La? Well, it was a surprise to me, but it's France. The results are taken from The Quality of Life Index, which is published by International Living magazine has found that the French live life to the full, while Britons are over-worked.
Here's the full ranking rundown...
- 1. France
- 2. Australia
- 3. Switzerland
- 4. Germany
- 5. New Zealand
- 6. Luxembourg
- 7. United States
- 8. Belgium
- 9. Canada
- 10. Italy
- 11. Netherlands
- 12. Norway
- 13. Austria
- 14. Liechtenstein
- 15. Malta
- 16. Denmark
- 17. Spain
- 18. Finland
- 19. Uruguay
- 20. Hungary
- 21. Portugal
- 22. Lithuania
- 23. Andorra
- 24. Czech Republic
- 25. United Kingdom
Now, I know what a global bunch you buzzers are - how many of the places above have you visited or indeed lived in, were they really Utopia? Minus peacocks of course.

Johnf 'Having been dragged round a fair bit of the world when I was in the forces I can score 18 of those for visits, but only two lived in for more three months. I do like France as well but one I spent a lot of time in and always loved, summer or winter, was Norway. Beautiful country, great people and a relaxed attitude to life.' added 7th Jan 2010
