Challenge me...

Okay, really, in truth I am challenging you, but it's not little me personally, it's the South West that is setting a challenge and it's a mighty goodun.

The South West Challenges you

Here's the skinny...
At the backend of last year South West England started a campaign to encourage Brits to get active and beat the winter blues, by getting involved in a new initiative, "Challenge Me!" And it's dead simple to get involved, all you need to do is set a challenge for yourself, or for someone else, and then share your achievements on the net, on the Challenge me blog and the Challenge me Facebook fan page. Any challenges that are photographed or filmed, and obey the main rules, will have the chance to win prizes.

The rules are simple...
Photos or videos must show something that connects you to the south west. For example you could be holding a South West county flag; a South West England town name is in the background; or your T-shirt shows the name of the activity centre where you are. I reckon the key is to be creative, I'm desperate to see someone wakeboarding in a Kernow flag mankini...please John F let it be you. Plus, get this, the first person to post their challenge will win a whopping £100 White Stuff voucher and this is still up for grabs.

I thought seeing as the realbuzzers are the biggest healthy, active online community in the UK, the world, the galaxy, the universe, the metaverse (need I go on?) there's definitely going to be a bunch of you up for the challenge, even if it's the buzz of bagging the first challenger's prize.

Now, believe me, I have tried to find a pic or flick of me surfing, swimming, or doing anything remotely active whilst in the South West so I can bag the voucher, but all I can muster is, shall we say, somewhat dated. I'm guessing me aged three, building a sandcastle might not quite qualify, despite the fact that St Michael's Mount is in the background.

And remember that the South West encompasses all of the following locations, Bath, Bristol, Cornwall, Cotswolds and Forest of Dean, Devon, Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire. So, am guessing these places are bound to be on many a buzzers doorstep.

South West - Challenge Me!So, in case you are still in shock from seeing Borat in his bathers, here's your three-point plan to how to get involved...

1. Set your challenge - it could be an activity or sport you've never tried but always wanted to
2. Find a partner or a group if you want to challenge each other
3. Take a photo or video of you and your 'challengers' partaking in the activity and post on the Challenge Me! Facebook page and the blog.

Then the Challenge Me! Team will contact eligible 'challengers' to enter the prize draw.

Remember, the activity does not have to be death-defying, all you have to do is challenge yourself be it cooking, coasteering, climbing or cricket. And, if you need some inspiration on what to do (and maybe some other activities that don't begin with the letter C) check out this link to get started.

So, I'll leave you with this vid as a final taste, the challenge being a job swap between three delectable chefs from Jamie Oliver's restaurant, 15 and the three extreme-sport instructors from Watergate bay...let battle commence - don't be alarmed, there's not a mankini in sight.
