Coffee, is it oh so bad?

Oct1920096:39 p.m.

So, as I sat sipping my morning brew this morning (at my brand new kitchen table and in my brand new kitchen I might add*) I heard a little nubbin of news that swiftly pricked up my ears.

Coffee cup

Not only will my super-strong coffee wrench me out of a sticky-eyed sleep state, it could also give me facelift.  Yup, household favourite Nescafe has started selling a version aimed at women and it comes with the beauty-enhancing ingredient collagen.

On a side note, not sure why it's just pitched at us girls, as I am sure in this metrosexual age there are plenty of blokes that would like to have the double benefit of a coffee perk and facial pert. Plus, far easier to hide from your mates than a tube of Nivea for men.

Anyway, this is the type of news story I like to hear as although I am blessed with my mother's 'round-as-an apple' face and the fact that I was ID'd the other day in the pound shop for buying a can opener, I am all for anything that makes me look younger. And the fact that it's coffee is an added bonus, you see I am also known as two scoops McIntosh (as well as all the other nicknames) for the two spoons of coffee I have in every super small cup. So, with the amount I drink, I'll be looking like an 8-year old by Wednesday if I can get my hands on this collagen boosting stuff.

But coffee always seems to get a bad rap and stimulated by the face-lift inducing version I looked into some of the lesser known benefits of coffee...

Did you know that?

Coffee can boosts female sex drive

Coffee can protect against skin cancer

Coffee can help prevent cavities

But to be honest anything that changes me in the morning from this...

Kirstie in the morning

... to the Kirstie you know pictured top left is already a miracle, anything else is literally, an added perk.

*No more home gloating I promise, but I feel like I did when I got a Sindy house for Christmas, except this time it's a million times better as I can actually live in this one.
