Has Britain got dance talent?
Get your Lycra and Lamé out peeps because this post is dedicated to dance. Yup, this is something that is close to my heart and I am proud to announce that I am an avid viewer of Strictly Come Dancing, and the more recent, So you think you can dance.
What I love about dance is that it is one of the best endorphin-boosting workout that anyone can do, anywhere. And, generally my secret spot is the kitchen/dining room, however, note to self, I need to get curtains - the neighbours must be fed up of seeing my infamous air-guitar floorslide every Friday night.
Anyway, back to the dancing, as it's so accessible and a great way to lose a few pounds, there's no surprise that the government's anti-obesity campaign Change4Life have made it their key focus recently. And, a part of this campaign is a competition with 'Britain's Got Talent' winners, 'Diversity' for kids to learn their dance moves and upload them to the website.
The prize is pretty awesome too, a once-in-a-lifetime dance workshop with the group and tickets to their sell-out tour. So, if you are surrounded/know of any dance-keen kids up to the age of 12, all they need to do is go on to www.change4life.com/letsdance and take it from there. Good way to fill a dull day on half term?
But it's not all about the kids, you 'grown-ups' (and I use that term loosely) you are not getting of lightly either, if you have a burning passion for dance, or maybe just a slow smouldering ember, you will have an opportunity to have a go too. Yup, the Fitness Industry Association will be offering free dance lessons up and down the country during the first weekend of March to give everyone the chance to get fit and have fun by showing off their moves. And, you can book your free dance lesson on www.Change4Life.com/dance.
So, to get you prepped to move and shake, here's a dance snippet to get you in training...call me your dance angel. Now, it is six-minutes long, but if you have never seen it, I strongly suggest you watch - this never fails to bring a smile to my face.

Lazy_Boy 'There doing a Strictly come dancing class at my gym, not tempted though, I can't dance so public humiliation is not appealing. It does look good fun though.' added 18th Feb 2010

Johnf 'I watched all 6 minutes, I think I already know about 11 seconds of it, the dad dance bit. I think I danced like that before I was a dad, is that a worry! I hope they are successful getting some kids up and dancing, but when you add the words Fitness Industry in there I think many will be put off because it sounds as though hard work and sweat may be involved. They will of course get the already fit kids taking on yet another government funded sport.' added 18th Feb 2010
