Lose weight for Christmas

It seems today is D day, i.e. 'Diet begins day' in the quest for a better Christmas body. Yup, recent findings show that a whopping 60% of women will begin a diet today, in a bid to shave off the pounds before the festive season.

And, extreme measures are on the agenda, with many opting for the crash approach, skipping meals and following fad plans.
The study also found around 58% of women plan to shed some pounds before their office party to make sure they are looking their best. Plus, 14% even buy their party outfit in a size they know is too small in the hope they will fit be able to slide effortlessly into it by the time the big event arrives. But more than half of those have had to buy an emergency outfit after failing to lose the weight in time.
Well, I must admit, as a few festive invites have landed in my inbox today and over the weekend, sharpening up my round edges for Christmas is very much on the agenda otherwise there's no hope for me to fit into my favourite LBD.
So, ladies and gents, are you planning a festive pre-tox so you look your best - oh, and be able to eat and drink as much you want this Christmas and New Year?

Johnf 'Yep up my mileage so I can carb load on mince pies and xmas puds, essential food for running at this time of the year. Went to a food fair and tasted a variety of xmas puds on Saturday, some were just heavenly. At xmas I find myself often as the only person who eats xmas puddings in the house, oh what a shame I have to eat the lot! But then I am the only one out running on a Sunday morning I suppose. Thats not really the type of detox you're taking about is it?' added 10th Nov 2009
