About Tip 3
Racing flats are generally in the 7-8 ounce weight range. The reason for the difference in the weight is that they offer less protection than normal marathon trainers. It is for this reason that you should not train exclusively in racing flats but generally use the the flats the first couple of weeks before your marathon race and for the race itself, in order to remain injury free.
You should also keep a log of how many miles your racing flats have covered and aim to replace them every 200-300 miles. Again it will take around 50 miles to break in your racing flats and during this time you should break in your racing flats over shorter distances to avoid injury.
There are only two options reguarding commitment; you're either in or you're out. There is no such thing as life in between. - - Pat Riley
