Comme ci, comme ca

Oct2620082:36 p.m.

Well, Second Born and I are formally and officially both signed up for the Great Winter Run.  No ducking out and if that darned horizontal rain would let up for a minute, I'd get out and train, honest I would.

And I need to!  Just back from our wee trip to Geneva, the home of Swiss Army knives, cuckoo clocks and chocolate.  Lots of chocolate.  Second Born came home with what can only be described as a house brick made of milk chocolate.  It has taken all my powers of self control as a mum not to raid his stash after he is in bed.  Mind you, I am aided in that endeavour by the knowledge that he is like his mum and will know, to the gramme, how much chocolate he has.  Any surreptitious nibbles will be noticed and he will know where to point the finger!

First Born and his milk allergy gained huge amounts of sympathy, pats on the head, clucking and head shaking from various Swiss ladies.  Also, free plate of fruit in an ice cream shop (yes, we take our dairy allergic son into ice cream shops.  I never said we were perfect) and a bag of truly orgasmically good sugared almonds in a chocolate shop (he was buying a chocolate Swiss army knife for his friend).

We brought home a tiny but exquisitely good box of paves de Geneve for ourselves and so far, since coming home on Thursday, I have only eaten two.  I deserve a medal.

Tinabee has kindly suggested another race I might like at the end of November which is tempting, so I had better stop thinking about chocolate and start thinking about digging out the Asics instead.  Hope everyone is surviving this lovely autumnal weather.  I am planning to send my brother in Cockermouth a snorkel and flippers so he can carry on training for his next run!
