Overview

May0120085:51 a.m.

Film enthusiasts, makers and critics all gather around for the medium’s pinnacle festival – Cannes.
A small seaside town in the south of France is turned into a glitz-filled world with movie posters, press and movie stars every May.
Last year the Festival celebrated its 60th anniversary with some of the biggest people in the industry, including Michael Moore, Leonardo DiCaprio, Martin Scorsese and even Brangelina, as well as introducing the world to Javier Bardem’s villainous and Oscar-winning Anton Chigurh.
I was lucky enough to be a student studying abroad in the middle of the biggest film festival in the world. The University of Georgia has a unique program that gives film enthusiastic students a chance to be in the middle of the Festival and get a firsthand account of the market and pageantry involved.
This year, I am going back to see how I can do the second time around. Hopefully meet some important people, walk a red carpet or two and of course, see some movies before most others around the world.
