No sympathy required !

Aug17200910:38 p.m.

Another month gone by without blogging. I do read all the posts but find it tough to comment if I'm not blogging myself. I feel a bit of a fraud in some ways with not training regularly and consistantly. Don't really want to leave posts on here that are negative so opted for not posting at all.

Knee seems to be steadily degenerating. Pretty much aching to some degree all through the day now and affecting work / home life so not great by any stretch of the imagination ! I have tried to decrease the training but it makes no difference and I feel crap when I don't train.

Saw the consultant surgeon last week who has offered to have a look inside to see if there is any thing he can do but his face said it all rounded off with "We don't do ligament repairs or replacements" I think they will just confirm what is on the scan to be honest and not sure where things will go from there.

Also took the decision this weekend at the rugby club AGM to stand down as first team skipper - who knows when I'll next play but at least this way I know I'll not be making any disastrously stupid early comebacks ! It was a tough decision and one that has been bothering me for weeks as I love the game, club and position I held within it.

On the bright side I ran a really tough 24:03 three mile trail route including half way hill and absolutely out paced J Dog - Unfortunately I will be paying the price tomorrow - Well worth it though for a quick endorphin rush and that feeling of nausea just as the GMan clicks over to mile three and I could stop !

So 18 days till the op and in that time I need to lose a few pounds which will innevitably be put on over the weeks after ! I also plan to train as much as possible in order to achieve this. I also plan on running a sub 50 minute 10 KM before the op - so I know I can !

A lot to do but the title says it all !

  • tinabee 'No sympathy as requested but some good thoughts coming your way instead and fingers crossed that the surgery will sort things out for you. Brave decision re the rugby skippership. I am sure you can take it back once you are fully recovered. Good luck with the sub 50 10k - look forward to hearing about that!' added 18th Aug 2009

  • man_in_the_stand 'Fingers crossed that the surgery can be of some help. It must have been a hard decision for you to stepp down as skipper, but you will be back out there on the field sometime. Take Care' added 18th Aug 2009

  • Kitten 'Ok no sympathy then - just get the trainers on and get out and run that 50 min 10K - piece of cake for you (You used to run 50min 10K's in training with relative ease!), so just go and do it (No buts!), you can do it and you can have a big rest soon :)! x' added 18th Aug 2009
