Bungay Black Dog 20K
Feb2120104:42 p.m.
Well the legend of the Black Dog claims he last made an appearance when the rain fell with hail on a day as dark as hades itself, however that was in August and so the lightweight hound from hell clearly isn't stupid because he was no where to be seen this bitterly cold morning in February.
The weather was truly appalling today with driving headwinds for most of the first half of the course forcing snow, hail and rain sideways into every runner. It wasn't nice and if it was bad for the participants the marshalls must have been risking hypothermia at times. They did a great job as did everyone connected with the race, but I do wish they'd posted out the numbers and timing cards, I hate having to do that fiddly safety pin thing with numb fingers.
As a final preparation run for Barcelona, it did the job but acclimatisation wise it was worst than useless, but at least it's locked up miles in the legs which I suspect are still feeling last weeks exertions at Bramley.
All I need to do now is sit and wait and hope that this mornings hike around Suffolk's mountains hasn't caused me to catch a bout of pneumonia. At the moment I'm not quite sure, sniffly yes but no more than that and lets just hope that the Black Dog of Bungay doesn't come back to haunt this years marathon effort.
