Yeah it went okay, a second run which is an improvement on last year's regime. The wait at the start wasn't great and starting towards the back wasn't ideal but comparable to last year even if it never felt as smooth (or is that time rewriting my memories of the pain from last year) it was mission accomplished and I finished closer to the club runners than before.
I feel I went off faster this year than last and the way the Wimbledon Windmilers (female team) cruised past at 18 miles suggested that their metronomic pace was almost certainly the most efficient means of A to B. Still it was decent mileage under the belt and the right foot's blisters stood up to it.
Younger brothers training run also went well today (he prefers South London's mean streets to country lanes) and he looks like making a big improvement on his first effort so now I am becoming increasingly conscious that I can't relax on the big day.
A minute a mile slower might just lead to a desperate sprint to the colloseum and given that venues reputation for death at the end of a sporting, or unsporting contest, that probably isn't a smart life style option.
All in all a good day especially given Leyton Orient's new world soccer rating as joint number 1 with Arsenal.
I wonder if Barcalona have ever heard of them?
