After reading this blog at the weekend, I got to thinking about my packed lunches. I have a healthy appetite, so starvation rations are never gonna do the trick for me... But I've been eating healthy 'rabbit food' instead of sandwiches and the like for weeks now, and I have to say I've not once felt disappointed when lunchtime has come around. Healthy food can definitely be tasty, nutritious, and so long as you eat adult sized portions - filling.

Here's what I had for lunch yesterday:

A big tub of salad, with ham and cottage cheese on the side. Grate a couple of carrots and a couple of fresh cooked beetroots, chop up a spring onion, mix em all up. If you have anything interesting in the fridge/cupboard (peppers, grapes, apple, sultana, courgette, whatever) add it in. Serve with cucumber, tomato, a few slices of ham, or chicken breast or whatever, and a dollop of pineapple cottage cheese, sprinkle of black pepper, done.

According to interweb sourced nutritional stats my lunch weighed in at a paltry 307 calories... 26.1g protein, 40.1 carbohydrate, 4.7g fat, 9.4g fibre. I didn't feel hungry once throughout the whole day. Muesli with semiskimmed for breakfast at 10am (half a coffee mug worth plus milk), above salad for lunch at 1pm, an orange as a snack at around 4pm. Plenty of water throughout the day. No need to snack any further. Dinner at 7pm, homemade chicken (and lots of veg) curry with rice. I'm 6'2" and weigh 92kg, I'm not a particularly small chap, but so long as the serving size is big enough, rabbit food does the job nicely :D
