10 miles, get in!

Travelling for work threw a bit of a spanner in the works the start of this week, but tonights run went some way towards making up for that - My first ever ten miler, awesome :)
Was planning on a 10k with Dom, but I lost him part way round so decided to kinda make it up as I went along. Ended up on a bit of road with zero street lighting at the 6 mile point, decided the best thing to do was an about turn and find a safer route, before I knew it I was at 8 miles with plenty more left in the tank so revised my target upwards to 10 miles. Truth be told I could have gone a little further yet, but figured the sensible thing to do was stop.
Oh, and I bumped into a group of ten or so runners on my travels and had a bit of a chat with them as we ran. Turns out they meet weekly for a run in the area and they said I'd be welcome to join if I liked, it's all very informal not a proper 'club' or anything, sounds ideal for me so I may well take them up on their kind offer :) Won't be next week as after Wednesday I'll be resting ahead of Sundays race, but perhaps the following week.
Rest day tomorrow, then Dom's joining me for a scramble round Padarn lake on Saturday. If you'd have told me a few months ago I'd be out running for miles in sub-zero temperatures (and enjoying it!?) I'd have said you were nuts. Funny how things change...
Happy training guys and girls!
