Two marathons . . . .

Mar18201012:10 p.m.

I feel like the past few weeks I have been running two marathons - one physical, and one fund raising.

My daughters school have been amazing in supporting me, and are running no less than three events for me - a marathon based quiz, a sporty dress down day, and a sponsored 'marathon' run (where the total distance all the kids run equals 26.2miles). For the quiz I have been busy trying to secure prizes, and have managed to get a laptop computer donated as a star prize. Have been really frustrated trying to get other prizes though - I had contacted several large theme parks and football clubs in my area to ask for their help - but have been totally ignored! Not even a letter saying they can't help, which I would understand . . . .think its rude!! I know they must get loads of requests etc, but it doesn't hurt to pop an e-mail out saying as much.

Ah well, I suppose I shouldn't moan - have some good prizes for the quiz now, so plenty of the children should take part.

Training is still going well - short run today, so decided to run home from work (about 5 miles). Another 5 or 6 miler tomorrow, and then rest on Saturday in prep for my LSR on Sunday. Am aiming for a 130 minute run, and should hit about 13 miles all being well.

Marathon Clock of Doom keeps ticking . . . . . .

I wrote loads of letters to local businesses over Christmas and got one reply (a no thanks) from 35 letters - I agree its a bit rude. Good luck with the the rest of the fundraising and training.' added 18th Mar 2010

  • Torshon 'i have had to wait a few years because of this worry about fund raising and secured my own place. i am runnning for a charity but dont have that additional pressure. Keeping going Nigeyboy good to see you've reached the 1/2 marathon LSR, im a novice like yourself and have got up to 14 but had an injury so am at the 13.2 for this weekend post injury after a 10 day layoff. hope to see you on the start line!' added 18th Mar 2010
