Of Half Marathons and the ticking of the clock...

Mar2220107:57 p.m.

Sunday saw me return to the Brentwood Half Marathon, and event I entered to remove any chance of not running this Sunday.

I'd run it last year - my first half marathon in a time of 2hr 33min. I remember it being a hot day.

This year the weather was cooler, but it was a great day for running.

I started off with a fellow club runner, Steve, who was looking to run 2.10. I had set myself a 2.15 target. that wasn't to be. A stitch in my chest caused me to pull up between 4 and 5 miles. I never really found my pace and finished in the same time (slightly quicker) as last year.

Now, I know I'm not built for speed - but I would have hoped to have made a little improvement on last year and am a tad frustrated with my ability to keep running for longer distances - the mental discipline just isn't there - I have no reason to keep running becasue I know I can plod round the course, even if it is a mind numbingly slow pace.

More speed please vicar!
