Week 2
Jun28200911:35 p.m.
Well, week 2 is over now and it's fair to say that I've probably not done as much running as I thought I would. Actually, for "not much" read "zero".
I am partly the Master of my own Downfall here. My wife sent me into Dunelm Mill for a couple of bedside lamps. Needless to say, I emerged some time later sans lamps, but as the proud owner of a new "Memory Foam Topper Mattress". It's amazing what a difference those extra 4 inches have made. Our bed is completely transformed, and it is so comfortable that the wife can't wait to get upstairs and, erm, go to sleep. The downside, of course, is that I can't get up in the morning to go for a run. In fact, it's been a struggle making it to work.
Ordinarily, I could go for a run in the evening, but this week we have been entertaining Xavier from Madrid, who is here on an exchange week enjoying the delights of Bolton. So far, he's been to Pizza Hut, the local chippy, 10-pin bowling at The Reebok as well as numerous other delights, including the delights of "chilling" at people's houses. God knows what he'll tell his parents. SO, I've been doing a bit of moonlighting in the evenings as a taxi driver.
Anyway, the exciting news is that last night I went to Take That in Manchester. Now, I wouldn't class myself as a Take That fan, but the show was amazing, and it's quite surprising how many of the words you know to the songs. I happened to meet a lovely lady called Caroline who works at The Christie in Manchester. Caroline is one of those fantastic people who just goes out and takes life by the naps, unlike me, who also takes life by the naps, albeit slightly different naps. She is guaranteed a place in London next year as The Christie take a few places, and she is already in training. If I don't qualify in the ballot, she insisted that that I run with her, and even though I've just met her, I daren't turn her down. She has promised me a full massage after the run, althought I'm not sure if that was from her or with her, but it's a chance I'm prepared to take. To be honest, at my age, it will take more than a massage to get me on my feet again.
Weight still 93 kgs. Xavier goes back on Wednesday so I should get some runs in the week.
And thank you to those people who have made comments. Starting blogging is a bit like losing your virginity. Hopefully I'll get a bit better and start to post photos etc. I may even take a photo of the mattress.
Right, off to bed....mmmmmm.......zzzzzzz
