Overview

Owing to the fact that i have been rejected for the fourth time i will not be running the first Virgin London Marathon 2010.....

I will however be doing Brighton which is the week before (yay!!!).... can't wait, really looking forward to it as its the first one... should be good.

Past achievements include completing two 40 mile walks,  the Moonwalk (26.2 miles throughout the night), the Oxfam Trailwalker 100km (62 miles)  which team Rachpops and the Popeye Candy completed in 22 hrs and 22 minutes and the Dublin marathon which gave me a pb of 4 hrs 52 minutes!!!!

I took part in the Beacons Ultra 6th December 2008: 48 miles in 15 hours and 34 minutes.

I completed the 2009 Marathon des Sables which took place at the end of March 2009(www.saharamarathon.com).  A fantastic event, physically and mentally incredibly challenging and at times brutal but I did it!!   Total time was 52 hours and 44 minutes.... that's a long time to spend on your feet over 4 and a half days!   I raised money for Epilepsy Action as my youngest daughter suffers with the condition.

Brighton's looming

It's getting on for four months since I've blogged on here!!!    Blimey..... don't recognise as many names either but I'm sure everyone's still floating around somewhere!!!

I am currently trying to train for Brighton.... I only have two days a week where I can train now.  A Monday and a Tuesday.   Not ideal obviously but I have designated a Monday for running (outdoors) and usually gym on a TUesday.   Am only up to 10 miles at the moment so not exactly on target but then I never am!!!!

Definitely lost the will with running at the end of last year.  DIdn't enjoy it at all and my head was not in the right place.  Anyway, having left it over two months, I started again in January and am enjoying it so much more.  Life is more settled, I'm loads happier (still love my job), and the kids seem happy too.

It mght not be a conventional marathon training plan but it will have to do...... a long run once a week and if I get the chance on a Sat/Sun I will do a shorter run then. Have to say that my legs are bloody sore (muscles), but I do a lot of stretching and it does help.

Am staying in Brighton on the Sat and sunday night so at least I don't have to come home the same day.... plus I have someone coming to cheer me on which is all good ;0)

It's almost a year since I did the Mds.  Can't quite believe it to be honest!!   Looking forward to hearing all the tales from this year's participants.

Hope training is going well for everyone.....

Rach x

Blimey, long time since we've seen you in these parts. Life sounds good for you, if busy and hope you're well. I'm not VLM but still running plenty, still not been shaken loose off this site. Yep generally still around. Hope the rest of the "plan" goes well Rach.

Which race are you doing in Brighton Rach? I'm down there for the Sussex Beacon half in a week or two but i'm guessing it's the full marathon you're doing?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's been missing for a while. Great to hear from you again and good luck with your training. I can't believe it's almost a year since Mds - bet you're glad you're not doing it this year!!

First question, Rach - where have you been?
Second question - of all the pictures you could have put on your profile, why did you choose that one of your feet???
Good luck with your training for Brighton and hope to see you at a race again some time.

Didn't realise you were doing Brighton too :). I'm only up to just under 11 miles, so you're not the only one. Can't believe it's a year, looking forward to tales from a mate going out this year. Still have nowhere to stay in Brighton, OR worked out how to get there yet!

Crickey, with all the running you've done, I'm sure you'll have no problem with Brighton. Well done :-)
