FEELING SORE BUT FEELING GOOD

Right, after having doing much thinking the last few weeks about defering as I was really struggling with the injury. No LSR was taking me past the 11/12 mile marker as either my mental block or injury wouldnt let me. Also after having some really bad runs in the week (where i can normally do between 6 and 8 miles) I was lucky if I could get a mile without having to walk.

The breakthrough came yesterday afternoon when I plugged myself in to my ipod taped up my hamstring with some zinc oxide strapping, and of I went. Finding my pace early on helped and after seeing and being heckled at by one of our club coaches ( he has in the past managed  50 milers in under 5 hrs) at the end of 7 miles was about to call it a day but for some reason when I got back to my house I filled my drinks bottle up, had another gel and swapped ipods (mine had died ) out I went again. Managing to keep a steady pace going I completed just under 16 miles in 2hrs 55 mins. Today I am feeling very pleased with myself. Even though I feel just a tad sore and stiff at the knees. It gives me hope that I will be able to complete the marathon, even with the problems that I have had. Heres to next sundays run, hoping that I can get a 3hrs 30 or even a 4hr in..... fingers crossed for me.
