Give it up you fat b@$t@rd

Boozers up and down the country must be fearing a sharp downturn afer hearing that Ricky Hatton is giving it one last fight.

The Mancunian once dubbed 'Ricky Fatton' has confirmed he will return to the ring this year against an as yet unnamed opponent. So should the little bloater, who sounds somewhat like Ashley out of Coronation Street (not that I'd tell him to his puffed-up face) really be stepping back in for another beating?

His lifestyle and weight yo-yoing, which sees him balloon by as much as 40lbs between fights is not exactly the stuff of champions unless he's aiming for a heavyweight bout with Rick Waller (remember that talentless chubber?)
Ricky Hatton & Bernard Manning
Having witnessed first hand how Ricky can put the Guinness away, and how he's not too bad a stand-up comic either, you have wonder why he doesn't ditch the boxing gloves for good and become the new Bernard Manning. He even famously has a picture of the giant fella in his gym, with both of them lying stylishly on a settee in their underpants. No sign of skidmarks either. Well done fellas.

Guinness, greasy spoon cafe fry-ups and filthy fast food are not usually wolfed down by world-class sportsmen, so maybe Ricky should enjoy the fruits of his ring labour and enjoy his retirement. He was a great champ and has nothing left to prove, unless his next fight is lined up against pal Wayne Rooney. Most of us would love to see Fatton v Shrek more than we did David v Goliath.

  • jamieB 'I love Ricky and now he admits that his lifestyle hasn't helped. 2009 will always be the year when "doing a Hatton" became the phrase to describe sporting failure but we love a trier and he is so I love him... ' added 13th Jan 2010

  • Johnf 'As somebody who still goes and watches all the rock bands from the sixties and seventies, how can I criticise him for what looks like a crazy decision. Never give up seems to be the motto, and I guess he has not damaged himself anymore than Keith Richards!' added 14th Jan 2010
