Heavyweight thinking
Oct23200911:43 a.m.
This weekend sees the big match as two of the Premiership's heavyweight managers go at it with Rafa Benitez locking horns with Alex Ferguson.

Both are considered two of the deepest tactical thinkers in football and supposedly leave nothing to chance with their preparation - although it's possible that defeat for one could mean a P45 comes his way.
I tend to think at times, that football can be over-analysed - after all it's a simple game - just put the bloody ball in the net via head, foot, chest, or beachball. The way that Andy Gray goes on about it on Sky Sports after a match, picking all the holes out of performances, begs the question "If you are such an expert, why were you never a manager?"
See football is an easy game, as the philosophers eventually find out in this fine match - as the Germans take on the Greeks - proving there really is no need to think about it too much. (Apologies if you just don't get the Python sense of humour - I promise no more for at least a week)
I still say that German goal is offside though, and the Greeks would have been better served playing a diamond formation in midfield, and Marx should have played from the start.
