Bearded Wonder

So to continue our silly names theme of earlier this week, I have just finished watching England v Belarus and can solemnly report that Belarus had a player called S--tov. Honestly. You couldn’t make it up. Marvellous.

The other thing that attracted my attention and I feel merits much discussion, was man-of-the-match David Beckham’s beard. Is it me, or is his beard much darker than his hair? Surely that has to be the other main topic of conversation at the water cooler this morning, or school gate in my case and trust me, I shall be conducting my own mini straw poll.....

Now as you know Strictly Come Dancing fever is also in full swing in our house. My little boy was allowed to watch the first two dances on last week’s show as a weekend treat. Chris Hollins (go Chris) and his lovely, yet persistently scantily-clad partner Ola Jordan, were second up. So my little boy sat and watched in what I thought was bewildered silence.

But when they’d finished their salsa and were sashaying across the dance floor to speak to Brucie, he shook my arm urgently. “Mummy, mummy,” he insisted. “I like that lady in the pink dress.” That lady in the pink dress, or should I say tea-towel, was indeed the lovely Ola. So yes my friends, at the grand old age of 2 and 10 months, my son has his first crush. Since then, he has also started to show a great interest in dancing. And so it begins......

Incidentally, I am still pondering my next fitness move. Have you got any thoughts viz-a-viz my next assignment? In my Fitness is Fun blog, I did outline some suggestions. So perhaps you could all have a quick look at that and tell me what you’d like me to do next. I can’t decide. One minute I feel like I might be edging towards military training and the next, aqua-aerobics looks enticing. Help......

I've seen those military training groups on a Sunday morning and it's not a pretty sight, take it a little easier and try the pool instead.

Gender divide in our office on the beard, girls talked about it, boys talked about the less than exciting game!

I'm still with my first suggestion, get yourself a place in the 2012 boxing team. Good for your fitness as long as you don't use Ricky Hatton's method of relaxing between bouts!

The article on BBC news this morning about the schoolteacher looking to gain a modern pentathlon place shows other people have the same idea and believe its possible.

I can see it now "Thearle v Valuev" in a future world title fight!
