Fitness is fun....... isn't it?

Now apart from lying on a sun lounger, which admittedly I can do to Olympic standard, I will also, as promised, be pouring myself into some ill-fitting lycra and attempting to be slightly active on a regular basis. I thought it would be fun to have a go at things that perhaps you would like to know more about. Obviously with the added bonus of seeing me totally humiliated.
So any suggestions would be most welcome. Please be nice and please nothing potentially fatal. My kids quite like me and I quite like them too and I would really like to see them both married. To give you a gentle hint at the sort of things I was thinking, I’ve listed a few ideas. Basically things that I can attempt in the bosom of my local gym, many of which I‘ve never tried before, but thought might be fun. I have also included one or two which don’t look like fun at all, but might still be worth a go...... So get in touch and tell me what you’d like to see me try. They’ll be prizes for the best suggestions …… (no there won’t, but it was worth a try).
Potential Activities
Pilates
Spinning
Yoga (Iyengar, Hatha, Dynamic and Ashtanga - I promise I haven't made any of that up)
Kick Boxing and Box Fit
Salsa
Body Tone and Balance
Aqua Aerobics
Military Fitness
Any other ideas gratefully received, but do bear in mind that I am an ageing mother-of-two, so parachute jumping might not be the best idea…… and if anyone suggests sumo wrestling I will be devastated…

spiderweb 'How about giving the aqua aerobics a miss and going for some 'aerial aqua aerobics' and following Tom Daley off the high board. That should test your mettle. I'm sure your hard enough for that one.' added 9th Sep 2009

Flanker2 'Did somebody mention bosoms?......Sue, how about mud wrestling (ladies of course)? Less dangerous than the normal stuff and much more spectator friendly!!!....Ostrich racing, now that's not tooo dangerous (unless you're an Ostrich)? High-board diving? that would be great, buggered if you'd get me up there though...Good luck Sue.' added 9th Sep 2009

RicG 'Hi Sue Was on a tour of the BBC this afternoon and passed by your desk (about the time you were writing this... I thought you looked busy!). I thought you looked pretty fit already - no way an "aging mother of two" and if you don't mind me saying far better in person than on screen -stunning. How about starting on ergos (indoor rowing machines) and then moving out of the gym and on to the water and trying it for real.' added 9th Sep 2009

Johnf 'Topically I would think plain old boxing would be a good start. With Olympic places up for grabs what better than a BBC reporter on the inside trying to get a team place. You'll still make the kids weddings, just perhaps not remember it!!' added 10th Sep 2009

Sue_Thearle 'My friends you are too kind. I appreciate your fond words and gentle suggestions. I am so inspired I say hang the high diving and how about cliff diving? Acapulco is nice this time of year. I will run this idea past my editorial chums at Realbuzz and get back to you. In the unlikely event they turn me down, I fear I shall have to settle for something slightly more sedate. I'm thinking a spinning class next week, followed possibly by RicG's suggestion of ergos (isn't that a shop?). But never fear, I will be back in touch. Until then dear friends, once more into the health and fitness breach......' added 10th Sep 2009

seeannierun 'I'm currently hooked on X-Biking which is a bit like spinning. It's fun and fab and uses heaps of calories while saving your joints. I love it! See http://www.trixter.net/X%20Biking for more. Annie' added 15th Oct 2009
