Let's get ready to Rumba!

Well Bruno Tonioli said it; “Chris you’re a dancer…..” And isn’t he just?! Strictly Come Dancing has been a triumph since it returned to our screens on Friday. But what about our Chris? Good grief. I have seen Mr Chris Hollins in action on the golf course, the ski slopes and the football pitch, but I never knew he had it in him on the dance floor. The memory of his rumba and there’s a phrase I didn’t think I would ever find myself saying, still makes me slightly goose-bumpy. And the outfits! Well all I can say is, he wore the spangles with impunity.

The show has been brilliant though hasn’t it? I had forgotten how fabulously bitchy Craig Revel Horwood can be. What a joy to see him back. “Two words…. Rigour mortis”….. Dear God, can you imagine? Weeks of hard work, sweat and tears, never mind nerves and then you get through the dance and that is all he has to say to you!

Alesha Dixon, Strictly Come Dancing judge

And what about Alesha Dixon? She is a mighty fine looking woman. I bumped into her on Saturday night after the show, as I was leaving work after presenting the news. And let me tell you, close up, she is very gorgeous. The Sunday papers have been a little bit mean about her and people have been complaining that Arlene should come back. What do you think?

Incidentally I also saw Ricky Whittle in close quarters on Saturday and he is as fit as a flea. He is definitely a contender this year as is Ali Bastian I think. I also grabbed a chat with one of the people working on the show, who described Chris as a dark horse. And based on the first two dances, I would certainly agree with that! And I cannot wait to see Phil Tufnell throw some shapes. I have a feeling he won’t be taking this too seriously and will go for the comedy vote, don’t you? So week two ahoy and I can’t wait. Happy dancing my friends. Let’s get ready to rumba.

Yes, got to give it to Chris, he was very good. I think Alesha may need a bit more time, she needs to be a bit more confident about what she says and not just try to make all the contestants feel cosy.

The group dance showed off Ricky Whittle's dancing! he was awesome when he danced for hollyoaks in the comic relief show, glad he's doing this!

I think starting the show with 16 couples was a mistake - I got bored halfway through.
