Don’t you think that the great thing about health and fitness is that you can find so many ways of making it work for you? Take this weekend for instance. I visited some friends in the Cotswolds and took my kids to watch their daughter ride on Sunday morning. One of the dads there had just started taking riding lessons too and he was well into his 30’s.

Now while it didn’t make me want to leap on a horse or indeed pony, because there is, I’m told, a huge difference. I was impressed and a little inspired by this man’s get-up-and-go. Okay horse-riding isn’t my thing, but I admire anyone who can climb onto a tonne of animal and try and make it go in a certain direction. I have enough trouble persuading a 2-year-old to come to the dinner table.
But it reminded me of the old adage that you are never too old to learn anything. So on this giddy note of energetic enthusiasm, I have decided to throw myself into my yoga class this week ( I am a total novice I might add) with renewed vigour. I will of course be reporting back on my experiences.
But I would love to hear what you could be inspired to take on. I can’t tell you how many people I have seen running recently. I guess a lot of them are starting to think about the London Marathon. But who or what has inspired you to take on something new? Do care and share with us and it may well give me some new sporting ideas too. But again, please nothing too death-defying for me to try..... I have children and a cat to support.... Yours in sport x
PS. Didn't our Chris Hollins do well at the weekend?
PPS. If you are interested in taking up horse-riding then check out the British Horse Society for more information, website is www.bhs.org.uk.

A much as I love the idea of heading off down a beach at sunset on horseback, the horse terrifys me! So no horseriding for me, but I have always been interested in giving Yoga a go, so let us know how it goes! I don't know if I would have the patience...
