I ask you. How can a woman look that good in curlers? If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn’t have believed it. But yes Ola Jordan looks amazing in curlers. I don’t look that good after 4 hours of getting ready and a team of professional make-up artistes. And I’m not joking. But as you can see, our favourite Strictly Come Dancing couple, courtesy of the lovely Chris Hollins, gave us an amazing behind-the-scenes tour on Saturday afternoon, just a few hours before they breezed through to the last 7.
As well as looking drop dead gorgeous in curlers and a tracksuit – which just isn’t fair, we met most of the dancers and celebrities as they wandered around getting ready for the show. I feel dreadful now, but I feel I may have put the mockers on Phil Tufnell’s hopes. We were having a chat while he had a preparatory fag (ever the athlete) and he said and I quote. “I’m back this week, I really am.” Quick as a flash I replied, “You never went away Tuffers, you never went away.” Well he beamed like a Cheshire Cat and told me he liked that kind of positive thining. He disappeared with a smile and promptly went out of the competition.
I must say I was a little surprised to see him go. He was one of my tips to go a long way. But then, as anyone who knows me well will tell you, tipping is not my strong point. People refuse to answer the phone when I call them from Aintree the day before the Grand National with a ‘hot’ tip courtesy of a bookie. They have never come home and frankly few of them have actually got past the first four fences. However diabolical tipping aside, the Strictly team were top notch, they really were. Brian was a total star. Just brilliant with the children and so much fun.
Natalie Cassidy and Vincent were very chatty as was Ricky ‘dance off’ Groves. They were amazingly relaxed frankly, for people who were about to potentially make a total idiot of themselves on national telly in front of millions..... But then again, we’ve all been there..... We were shown around the wardrobe department where there is a small army of seamstresses working feverishly on the outfits. I was so impressed. I couldn’t get my arm into some of the trousers, never mind a leg. And I did feel slightly nervous for some of the stars as well. Can you imagine? Half way through the fandango and you split your frock. Blimey. I just wouldn’t be able to cope with that kind of pressure.
But my daughter and our friends were besotted by the whole experience and so was I. Just brilliant and all lovely people as well. It is all making me want to get dancing lessons, which I think could be the next thing on my to-do list. Are you similarly inspired, or is it X-Factor for you? That’s a bit like having to choose between Starsky and Hutch, Cagney and Lacey or Bodie and Doyle. (Hutch, Cagney and Bodie btw). But do let me know. Let’s ignore the fact that is Monday by talking about fabulously pointless but entertaining telly......

I still want Hollins to win! For me, although I'm not a big TV fan, it's the fact that the Strictly guys still do the day job in a lot of cases (those who are not resting).
What a great experience and doesn't some of the cash go to Children in Need? Nearly as go as my team's CiN calendar...
Beats that piss poor excuse for a show that Cowell fronts...
