Well that’s just great isn’t it. First we were frozen under a blanket of snow and ice for a fortnight, with no end in sight. And now it’s pouring down with rain and is going to rain so much this weekend, there’s going to be flooding everywhere. Joy. I have now taken to wearing wellie boots like they are a fashion accessory. They are not. At least mine aren’t. Oh and also, stylish they are not either.

What a good job I am tooled up on the technological front. Oh yes. I am planning a return to the world of park running, so yesterday I went shopping with a girlfriend who is to be my running mate. She has got a gadget that talks to her through her iPod. Marvellous. I have no idea how it works. I didn’t know what it was called either, so I referred to it as a Nike thingey in the shop yesterday.

The assistant asked me what kind of iPod I had. I looked blankly at him. “Is it a Nano?” He enquired gently. Still silence. “What size is it then?” he asked a little more urgently. “Well it’s about this big,” I offered helpfully, making a shape with my hands. “That’s a Nano,” he concluded confidently.

Actually no it isn’t, it’s an iPod Mini, apparently, as my husband solemnly informed me last night, which means my gadget won’t be able to work with my iPod. Brilliant. I shall just have to buy another iPod now naturally. My husband will be appalled. Actually I’ve just blown it by telling you all that, as he will probably read this at some point. Ho hum.

At least I will have the joy of hearing Lance Armstrong and a luminary of Nike’s finest sports stars telling me when I’ve done a great job, or a personal record. My running buddy tells me Tiger Woods is one of the voices of reason on this thingey. She said that he had complimented her on her quick time in the park last week. I was impressed. I am so shallow, the prospect of hearing some of the world's most famous sportspeople saying 'Good job", seems mildly exciting. I really need to get out more. And to that end I am off to take on the world of Zumba classes again. Oh yes. I am so back......
