The glass is always half full....

Well welcome to another Monday. The snow is due to come back with a vengeance in our neck of the woods again this week. Brilliant. Mind you, looking on the bright side, it will be a good excuse not to go out running..... I was kidding by the way. I did 5 miles this morning. Oh ho yes. Just popped out for a jog and did 5 miles. I had to. I made roast lunch for 8 of us yesterday and ate most of it myself....

But at least the training is going to plan and I don't have to wear my new glasses to do it. In fact I've been cheering myself up by trying to think of successful sportsmen and women who triumphed in their particular field, whilst looking effortlessly cool in specs. Billie Jean King sprang immediately to mind. In fact I also look a little like her with my new specs. Martina Navratilova also wore them in the twilight years. Mind you. She was so good, she could have played in a blindfold and still won. Ed Moses. Now he always looked so cool and never appeared to break into a sweat, despite running ummm very fast indeed.
Daniel Vettori is quite handsome in a geeky kind of way and takes a ton of wickets for the Kiwis. Who else? Well Eddie the Eagle..... err wore specs too..... In fact I saw him being interviewed on telly last week. He didn’t have big hair or glasses anymore. In fact I wouldn’t have recognised him at all, because he was using his real name, which is Michael.

Dennis Taylor also had enormous glasses, which is probably what helped him win the World Championship.... indeed with those binns on, the balls must have seemed about three times the size. Obviously if you can think of anyone I'm missing, then do let me know. But that long list has certainly cheered me up no end I don’t mind telling you. It’s half-term week, so I am now off to take the children swimming. Oh yes. It’s all go here. I think I may have peaked and it’s only Monday. Damn. Toodle pip.

Sue_Thearle 'Ohmigod I cannot believe I forgot Edgar Davids. I knew I would miss someone completely obvious. And David Steele is a top shout. You know my husband and I both talked about him, when I was discussing this idea and even looked up piccies of him on tinternet. He really does look like a bank manager. And tragically I am old enough to remember him. Oh dear....' added 15th Feb 2010
