So anything Madonna can do, I can better right??? At least that’s what I told myself when I realised that the Queen of Pop was a devotee of yoga. Actually that woman seems to be a devotee of anything that makes you lean and mean physically. And fair play, she looks absolutely amazing for someone of her age. I’m told she practices Ashtanga Yoga, which is based on more dynamic moves between postures........ apparently.

I, on the other hand, have decided to make a more gentle foray into the world of mystical exploration, with a Hatha Yoga class tomorrow. Now I must confess I did attend a couple of yoga classes when I was pregnant with my daughter over six years ago. By the time I started going my tummy was so huge I could barely see the teacher, never mind follow what she was doing. But she had a patience I could only marvel at.
Now Hatha yoga is what most of us understand by the term yoga. To me, that means sitting cross-legged and looking at peace with the world, or at least that’s what I’m hoping it will be. But there are a huge number of different types of yoga.
Andy Murray, for example, is a fan of Bikram Yoga. That is practised in a room that is heated to over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. It was one of the things that turned him from a gawky teenager to a strapping young man who is knocking on the Grand Slam door.

I however don’t want to run before I can walk and let’s face it, spinning classes have left me with a gentle limp. And that’s why I’m easing myself into yoga very gently indeed. So think of me chaps. I’m doing it all for you...... I’ll report back on Friday when my ying and my yang should be at one with each other, or something........

Madonna does look great Sue, I've only tried yoga on the Wii and I must admit I enjoy it. I can also do it behind closed doors which helps...
