Overview

Finally got the go ahead from the sponsor - Prostate Cancer Charity - for London 2008. After finishing Berlin last autumn in a minute less than four hours I am aiming for 3:45, maybe even 3:30 this time.

annoyed

Just back from a 14-miler along the river Mersey in ankledeep mud. Took me 4 hours. I just cannot understand why the British don't give a **** about the condition of their public paths. No pavement, deep holes and it takes a five minute drizzle to turn a potentially beautiful and inviting path into a complete disaster. No wonder most people are couch potatoes here. This would be a fine day to go and drag that councillor down to the river and stick his/her smug arrogant civil servant smile into the mud.

Well yeah, suppose those shitty trails really support your training in a sense. (Certainly made me better for Berlin last year.) But it just ain't no flipping fun on long runs...
