Speeding up!

Mar2020103:28 p.m.

Afternoon all! Another 18 miles this morning, thats three Saturday morning 18's in a row and i was very pleased with my time of 2:28:18, thats 20 minutes quicker than my first 18 two weeks ago! However, I really did feel the strain of the extra effort required and for the first time this year I hit the wall hard at 17miles and was well and truly bucked, as we commonly refer to in these situations in Norn Iron. My own foolishness is to blame for hitting the wall, I forgot to put extra drinks money in my shorts and was hoping to buy a lucozade sport at 14 miles, that fell by the wayside and I was paying for it heavily for the last mile.

Im not sure if its mind over matter, but during the last mile of my LSR I always find it a struggle to keep going, Next Saturday I hope to run 22 miles, which will hopefully be the peak of my training, I can imagine I will be reasonably OK from 17 miles until 21 miles and then find the final push to be a real struggle again.

I hope everyone else is enjoying the beautiful running weather today? I work in a boarding school and this is my duty weekend so having been covered for the morning I am back in school for the rest of the weekend.
