This weeks progress...

Me looking absolutely shattered and dragged through a hedge backwards look, after 10 miles.
My training hasn't progressed as much as I'd hoped, but I'm still managing to get a reasonable amount of miles in. My shift pattern, looking after a toddler and seeing family have all demanded my time. This is quite right, but it has been a barrier in reaching my training goals. Coupled with the very poor weather lately, I've needed to muster all of my determination and PMA to get out of the door!
Yesterday (Saturday) I ran one of my regular routes around Newark and managed to cover 6 miles in just over an hour, averaging just over 10 min/mile. Cardio wise I was struggling, probably because my last run was a week ago! Just couldn't run all the way up Beacon Hill and had to stop to catch my breath. Max HR peaked at 193 bpm! Pop! That's my heart gone!
Today (Sunday) was a different story, running was much easier than yesterday and I ran 10 miles in 1 hour 41 mins, an average on 10 mins/mile. This time I powered up Beacon Hill and ran all the way to top and on to finish the miles. I nearly yelled "yeeaaah get in" at the top of my voice but decided against it!
I made sure that a lot of time was spent stretching when I got home, the legs were very tight. Now hoping that I can stave off any injuries/inflammation by carrying on with my core conditioning exercises (long term for pain!) and taking the time to stretch.
Thanks for reading my ramblings!
Until next time...
